Carving a path that’s a little off the beaten track, Warren's Gourmet Burger Company has now started to deliver its award-winning burgers beyond its camp in Wooton Road. And its very British (read fusion) approach separates these large, wholesome burgers from the pack.
The menu is robust, and the patties themselves are massive, and made of beef, lamb, pork or breaded chicken. The fusion element is expressed with the likes of the curry burger – marinated in Warren’s own spice blend and topped with raita and mango chutney.
The elite selection is something else, sporting an extravagant burger that comes with dauphinoise potato and red wine jus. It sounds like overkill, but it works by treating the humble burger to some classic culinary combinations. In contrast, the Jumping Jerk seems more of a concession than a well thought out, balanced dish, but in such varied company, you can't bemoan a bit of box-ticking.
With prices at £5.95 from noon-5pm, and £7.95 from 5-10pm for a burger, chips, ’slaw and a drink, it is affordable and flavoursome in equal measure. And delivered to your door. Can't say fairer than that.
