Eat A Pitta made great waves when it first took over from the soup and salad stall in St Nicholas market’s glass arcade. The perfectly cooked falafels and pitta breads overflowing with chopped salads, homemade pickles and sauces had everybody talking and the queues could take 20 minutes at lunchtime.
Luckily, fuelled by demand, a second location has opened since, in the heart of the Broadmead shopping area, meaning you can get your fix with less of a wait these days. If you don’t eat wheat you could go for a salad box instead of the pitta, which is stuffed to the brim and will easily do you for two lunches (depending on your appetite).
There's a large variety of toppings on offer and it pays to experiment with different combinations. We can vouch for the homemade tahini and chilli jam, but all of the sauces are delicious, especially when topped with five freshly cooked, piping hot falafel and wafer thin crunchy salads. All that for a bargainous £4.50 makes it the perfect lunch on the go.
