If you’ve walked through St Nicks Markets’ Glass Arcade, chances are you’ve paused and gushed at the cakes on offer at Ah Toots. They stand tall on the makeshift cart display, glistening with icing that would give a plasterer a run for his money and decorations that make you want to plant your face in them.
These cakes can be ordered to take home, and this take-away option forms a large part of the business, but it’s definitely worth stopping by at this stunning little tearoom. Here, you can pick up some savoury treats for lunch such as sausage rolls, sandwiches and quiche to balance out the fact that you’re inevitably going to have a huge slice of cake with your coffee.
The coffee (and tea) comes from Clifton Coffee and you can also sample some of Ah Toots’ very own iced tea. Take your seat in one of the cupboard-like stalls, wrap yourself in a blanket and relax with a coffee and piece of cake that will keep you stacked on sugar for the rest of the afternoon. Perfect!
