Are you disappointed you couldn't get tickets to Reading and Leeds Festival? Not to worry, as there's still an opportunity for live music, dancing around in squelchy fields and bleary-eyed camping, at Valley Fest, taking place from August 28-30.
Found at Chew Valley in Somerset, Valley Fest promises a friendly, green and fun festival experience – less than ten miles from the centre of Bristol.
So, here are six reasons for you to head there this weekend:
It takes place on an organic farm
Valley Fest
When it's not hosting a festival, the space is used by the Community Farm, a social enterprise that grows and sells organic food through a box delivery service. It's what the volunteers call 'feel good food and feel good farming' – and you'll get the same 'feel good' vibe at the festival too.
You'll be supporting local charities
Valley Fest
Valley Fest is held in memory of farmer (and organiser) Luke's mum and dad. The festival also will be raising money for local charities close to Luke's heart, including Penny Brohn Cancer Care, St. Peters Hospice, The Harvey Hext Appeal and the Goodwill Cause.
There will be great food
Valley Fest
Local chef Josh Eggleton will be creating the food in the Eat Drink Bristol Fashion tipis, using food organically grown in the neighbouring fields. Plus, food and drink companies Cornish Orchard, Yeo Valley, Pukka Teas and the Dirty Burger Bar (found every year at Arcadia at Glastonbury festival) will be just a small selection of the many providing delicious food and drink over the weekend.
It's got a great line-up of acts
Valley Fest
For this year's Valley Fest, headliners Jungle Brothers have travelled over from NYC, while Fun Loving Criminals frontman and BBC Radio 2 DJ Huey Morgan will be holding his first ever DJ festival takeover.
Plus, there will be the Bristol 12-piece No Go Stop (formerly Bristol Afrobeat Project), folk music from Pete Bernard and Saskia Maxwell, hip hop from Mouse Outfit and DeCyphers, electroswing kings The Correspondents, as well as northern soul, breaks and more. Of course, festival favourites The Egg and The Rhythmites will also be there to keep you dancing all day and night long!
It's child friendly
Valley Fest
It's not just the parents who can have a good time at Valley Fest. In fact, children have a whole area dedicated to them. Within Kids Valley – which will be suitable for all ages, from toddler to teen – you'll find a soft play area, climbing domes and a traverse climbing wall, space hoppers and games area.
There will also be a load of workshops, where kids can make scrap fashion, learn circus skills, build rockets, screen print clothes and more.
There's boutique camping
Valley Fest
Want a bit of glamour from your festival experience? Then what better place to do it than with a boutique tent overlooking Chew Valley Lake. Karma Canvas is offering beautiful bell tents of various sizes for hire – the perfect way to sleep under the stars.
There are no camping hardships with these luxury tents – each one will be finely furnished with comfy air mattresses, coir matting, low wooden table and bright fairy lights, creating real camping chic!
