There are always plenty of great parties going on in Bristol, but this weekend is unusually packed, with every style of dance music on offer across the city. Read on for our pick of the best.

Shak Out 1st Birthday, Lakota, Saturday, £17
A whole host of UK bass-culture legends roll into Bristol on Saturday for a tropical-themed three-room bash at Lakota. UK garage stars Oxide & Neutrino top the bill, joined by UK hip hop OGs Rodney P & Skitz and the inimitable ragga flows of Top Cat. Glasgow’s finest sound-system crew Mungo’s Hi Fi and Leed’s mighty Iration Steppas hold it down in room two.

Dub Encounters , The Black Swan, Friday, £7
Two powerful sound systems come together at The Black Swan on Friday as the truly legendary Channel One meets Pappa Roots Sound System. Expect chest rattling bass and serious vibes from a strictly dubwise musical menu.

Response, The Marble Factory, Saturday, £15
House producer Shadow Child headlines the next Response party this Saturday night. The Londoner will be bringing his bass-heavy, garage inflected sound to Marble Factory, with top-drawer support from Bodhi and LXURY.

Ninja Tune Bristol, The Old Firestation, Saturday, £12-£20
The entire Bridewell complex will be taken over on Saturday night, with seminal UK record label Ninja Tune stopping by in Bristol as part of its twenty-fifth birthday celebrations. Label founders Coldcut are joined by live shows from Young Fathers, DELS and Dorian Concept in the Firestation, while in the adjacent Old Crown Courts, Toddla T, Mele & Slickdon, DJ Q and Chimpo bring the beats.
