If you find yourself wandering Park Street in search of a good cocktail, stop in at Goldbrick House. With a reputation for serving some of the best drinks – and food for that matter – in Bristol, this classy yet friendly café, bar and restaurant is bound to have something for you.
Some of the drinks are as kitsch as a 1950s drinks cabinet: charlie chaplains, grasshoppers and juleps. Others are downright odd. The Lost Soul (tequila, Laphroig, passion fruit, sugar) had us bouncing up and down in the leather armchair in anticipation and didn't disappoint.
There are gin and rum punches for sharing with a group for £25, or an eye-wateringly expensive Fish House Punch, involving Hennessey Paradis cognac, 21-year-old rum and a whole bottle of Krug Grande Cuvee. For a casual £500.
Champagnes are a specialty at Goldbrick, and they’re not averse to mixing them into cocktails. Their signature creation, The Goldbrick, combines house champagne with white rum, passion fruit and elderflower, all for a much cooler £8.
