The theatre closed for most of 2020 due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
Actor Bille Brown died tragically at just 61 after an impressive career in both the UK and Australia, and Queensland Theatre subsequently named their 351-seat venue after him. Formerly the Bille Brown Studio, it underwent a $5.5 million renovation in 2018. It's the home base stage for Australia's third largest theatre company, hosting an exciting annual season of classics, contemporary Australian and international works, as well as Aboriginal and Torres Strait islander theatre.
