No one goes on holiday to the Gold Coast to cook. After a delightfully lazy day on the sandy beaches settle in at Mecca Bah for fancy drinks and magnificent Middle Eastern food.
A short walk from Kurrawa beach on the buzzing Broadbeach strip, Mecca Bah specialises in food from Morocco, North Africa and other Middle Eastern cuisines. Yes, you can get hummus, bourek and kebabs but we urge you to think outside the kebab shop and go for a tagine. The soul-warming, spice-heavy stews come in five varieties including vegetarian and pescatarian options (the latter with barramundi, mussels and prawns).
For the truly famished there are banquet options available starting at $35 per person (four people minimum) while those with a thirst won’t leave disappointed. Mecca Bah ensures no parched patron is left behind with an extensive list of wines, cocktails, mocktails, spirits, beer and soft drink. Turkish coffee is, naturally, available: if you’re new to the strong brew we suggest pairing a cup with a scoop of Mecca Bah’s halva ice cream.
