In the depths of the Queens Arms Hotel's basement lies Farrier – a bar, supper club and general night owl hangout. When Brisbane shuts up shop around 10pm, Farriers picks up the slack and welcomes the thirsty and the peckish through their doors until 2am.
This brick- and sandstone-walled den is serving cocktails, boilermakers (beer and whiskey), draught beers and a neat selection of reds, whites and sparkling, along with Asian-inspired eats such as blowtorched scallops, bao (peking duck with mushroom and coriander, or fried chicken with daikon and Japanese mayo) and rice congee with hoi sin duck, egg and pancakes.
Drinks run from the classic (mojito, martini, negroni, Amaretto sour) to the inventive ('bohemian mojito' – rum, Paraiso, lychee puree, mint, lime and soda).
Hide away from the world outside, or keep the night alive – Farriers is the underground retreat you'll be glad to have up your sleeve.
