Peak travel days this Thanksgiving are expected to be the Friday before Thanksgiving, November 18 and the Sunday following the holiday November 27. And in fact, on Delta alone, the airline estimates they will fly nearly the same number of passengers as they did during the same period in 2019. It is safe to say that travel is back in force this holiday season. So if you are flying from Logan this season and are currently bracing for the busiest travel days of the year, use our tips below to make your vacations a breeze. And if you need some destination inspiration, check out our guide to the best Thanksgiving getaways and our guide to what to pack this fall.

How to make traveling from Boston easy

1. Splurge on an upgrade

Splurging on an upgrade can be just the perfect gift to give yourself this holiday season. Check out Delta’s new and improved Premium Select cabin. Available on most long-haul flights, Premium Select offers guests the chance to stretch out and relax with a wider seat, additional recline and an adjustable footrest and leg rest for a luxurious upgrade from Economy. But the enhanced experience starts even before you board the plane. Delta Premium Select passengers receive Sky Priority service, which includes a dedicated check-in counter, expediated security lines and baggage service. And then, once it’s time to board, Sky Priority is one of the first groups on the plane. Once on the plane, Premium Select passengers are treated to an enhanced meal service with complimentary wine, beer and spirits, plus Starbucks coffee and tea throughout the flight.

But what makes this experience extra special are the handmade amenity bags in each seat, which include in-flight necessities like an eye mask, socks, lip balm and other goodies to make your long flight as enjoyable as possible. Pricing on Premium Select seats vary, but in December from Boston there are roundtrip tickets from Boston to London available for around $1500, whereas a main cabin ticket is about $750.

Lounge access is a game changer and if you are a frequent Delta flyer, you need to stop by the Sky Club in the satellite terminal near gate A18. The newly renovated Club is double the size of the previous space, with roughly 19,000 square feet and a capacity for over 400 guests. The Club features one standard buffet, one premium bar and three beverage stations. And at all times of the day guests can enjoy hot and cold food items, including some local specialties like clam chowder! And this is available year-round. Access to the Delta Sky Club is offered to passengers who are either Delta Sky Club members, flying in Delta One, have Sky Team Diamond, Platinum, or Gold preferred status (when flying internationally) or through a few credit card programs.

4. Get to the airport early

Obviously, this holiday travel season is going to be a busy one, so getting to the airport a little early will cut back the stress of the entire ordeal. And if you followed #3, hopefully you will have lounge access, so you van further unwind by having a glass of champagne at the Sky Club before your flight so budget a little extra time for that!
