Time Out says

While the Commonwealth Shakespeare Company has been delighting audiences for 28 years with its free performances on Boston Common (it's The Winter’s Tale through August 4 this summer), things take a little detour on Saturday, Aug. 10. Instead of characters such as Macbeth, Romeo or Hamlet waxing poetic about their struggles, viewers at the Parkman Bandstand will hear a young boy named Mikey valiantly exclaim, "Goonies never say die!"

The Commonwealth Shakespeare Co. is teaming up with Alamo Drafthouse Cinema for one special night to host a free, outdoor screening of the iconic ‘80s family adventure classic, The Goonies

Grab your beach chair and blanket (and a pint of ice cream, if you please) and join Chunk, Mikey, Mouth and Data as they band together and set out on an adventure. The goal: to discover a legendary pirate's long-lost treasure with the help of an ancient map.

All are welcome to the screening, which begins at 8pm. The first 1,000 people will leave with a Goonies flag. Itching to find some real treasure? You can also participate in an actual treasure hunt, with prizes, to find the “rich stuff” hidden around the event.

The Parkman Bandstand at the Boston Common is located at 139 Tremont St.
