On Mar. 20, the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston celebrates the ancient festival of Nowruz, which signals that spring has sprung. Observed by over 300 million people for more than 3,000 years in places including the Caucasus, Central Asia, the Black Sea Basin, the Middle East, and the Balkans, Nowruz is a beloved holiday that's recognized by UNESCO as an Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. Throughout the evening, you will hear Nowruz-inspired stories in Farsi, add bright colors and intricate patterns to wooden eggs with acrylic paint markers, view traditional Nowruz table displays, hear enchanting folk music and dance from Azerbaijan, take a tour exploring objects in the MFA galleries with connections to Nowruz celebrations, experience a medley of Persian dance, hear Kazakh musical pieces, and much more. To celebrate, all events and activities for the festivities are included with a $5 minimum “pay-what-you-wish” general admission from 5-10pm. See the full list of events and activities on mfa.org.
