In 2012, the first Japan Festival Boston was hosted, celebrating the 100th anniversary of the gift of cherry blossom trees from Tokyo to Washington D.C., and this year’s promises to be bigger and better than ever. On April 26 and 27 from 11am to 5pm, the Festival returns for two days of rich culture and cosplay tradition at Summer Street Plaza at Washington St. Downtown Crossing kicks off the event with a cosplay block party from 11am to 2pm on April 26 co-hosted with the Consulate General of Japan in Boston, with a live DJ, interactive workshops exploring hands-on Japanese culture, dancing, and other entertainment. There will be a cosplay fashion show at 1:45pm and parade to the Main Stage on Boston Common at 2:05pm. The festival's second day includes a cosplay death battle at 1:55pm. With more than 30 food stalls and 60 booths (from kimonos to college programs) both days, you’re sure to find something new to try.
