The last thing you want to deal with this holiday season is a Black Friday crowd, mall parking or missing shipped packages. So forgo those follies and instead treat yourself to a fun shopping experience—that also supports local. These holiday markets are not only decked out in splendor (hello, hot cocoa and twinkle lights!), but you’ll leave knowing you supported small businesses by buying gifts that stand out from everything else under the tree. When you’re done, check out one of the many Christmas events in Boston or get some more cheer from a Boston Christmas lights display.

Time Out Market Boston
  • Things to do

Pop-up maker markets are among the most popular events at Time Out Market—so you can bet there are a couple on deck this December. On Saturday, Dec. 14, Planning With A Scorpio is bringing a celebratory Holly Jolly Pride Market with LGBTQ+ vendors to the Fenway food hall for a festive afternoon of shopping local, live music, themed cocktails and seasonal snacks. On Sunday, Dec. 15, local youths are coming by for a Teen Maker Market. Guests are encouraged to bring new or gently used winter essentials to donate to Cradles to Crayons, which helps local children have a strong start in life.

Best holiday markets in Boston

  • Seaport District

The Seaport cosplays Christmastime in Europe—with a benevolent yeti. A pop-up marketplace, iceless curling rink, photo backdrop and food hall from developer-organizers WS, Snowport spans a city block in the Seaport and attracted 1 million visitors in 2023. (There's a new way to skip the lines on weekends this year!) The annual tree lighting is on December 6 and holiday festivities continue through Sunday, Dec. 29. The iceless curling lanes brighten up winter in the Seaport with free outdoor fun open through February.
