Dine Out Boston 2024: the best spots to book during restaurant week

Dine Out Boston returns on Sunday for its two-week summer edition, with great deals on excellent restaurant meals in and around Boston. More than 150 of the area’s best restaurants are running fixed-price specials, typically two courses for lunch and three for dinner, from August 4–17. This year, prix fixe lunches are available for $22, $27, $32 and $36, while dinners are priced at $36, $41, $46 and $55 per person. All meals will come from a special Dine Out Boston menu, and will give diners an opportunity to sample new menus.

From neighborhood favorites to occasion-worthy places, a big lineup of great restaurants is involved in Dine Out Boston. Reservations for lunch and dinner are available, but with only two weeks to take advantage, it can be hard to narrow the field. As one of the Back Bay’s most popular special-occasion restaurants, Abe & Louie’s understands the allure of the classic chophouse and delivers with red banquette booths, dark wood paneling and prime Midwestern steaks aged on the bone at least 30 days. 

Our prix fixe pick: Abe & Louie’s is offering a weekday lunch menu, and we’d chow down on Abe’s Prime Cheeseburger made with prime beef and served with hand cut French fries.

This open, minimalist-chic space on Lovejoy Wharf gets packed before big TD Garden events; such is the draw of the well-chosen wine list and versatile menu of upscale contemporary fare. The kitchen merges New England-sourced ingredients with Mediterranean techniques and flavors, and Alcove will be offering a $36 prix fixe menu on weekdays. 

Our prix fixe pick: The chilled corn soup with ricotta salata is the perfect cooling app during a long, hot August.

Situated on Stuart Street on Back Bay, this restaurant is committed to breathing new life into beloved local classics that can sometimes seem tired and overdone. With two floors filled with light and tastefully modern nautical decor, there's plenty of space to sit down for lunch and dinner during Dine Out Boston.

Our prix fixe pick: We’d pick the $55 dinner option, and head straight for a starter of chef Robert Sisca’s impeccable crudo, and enjoy the striped bass or lamb ravioli for a satisfying main.

One of Boston’s most gorgeously appointed restaurants, Bistro du Midi enjoys fantastic views of the Public Garden, and a French leaning menu that’s available as a special prix fixe for lunch and dinner during Dine Out Boston.

Our prix fixe pick: The jumbo scallops with bok choy and fingerlings are worth the price of admission alone, and the restaurant is offering selections from their wine cellar for just $44 a bottle.

An expansive, Boston version of the late-night industry favorite in New York City, this restaurant is located directly at the doorstep of Kenmore Square’s Hotel Commonwealth. The menu is full of hearty bistro classics, and you can sample the best of it with lunch and dinner specials.

Our prix fixe pick: Blue Ribbon is famous for their crispy fried chicken, and that’s exactly what you should order.

This South Eng spot aims to deliver a unique take on spicy, Louisiana-style seafood boils and other Southern comfort classics, and that’s the energy they’re bringing to their dinner menu for Dine Out Boston. The prix fixe menu offers classics like beignet and gumbo.

Our prix fixe pick: Bootleg does seafood boils really well. Get a couple of friends together and order the snow crab low boil and the shrimp and clams low boil to share. Both come with corn, sausage and potatoes.

The South End and Downtown Crossing locations of this local steakhouse are both offering a $46 prix fixe dinner, and you’ll find their unique takes on modern classics on the menu. Really great steak is also heavily featured, as you’d expect!

Our prix fixe pick: Literally any steak on the menu, and the restaurant’s famous sticky toffee pudding are both a must.

This modern American restaurant in the heart of Downtown Crossing is offering a prix fixe menu that allows new guests an excellent opportunity to sample a variety of dishes. If you’ve only visited for one of their fantastic margaritas, now’s the time to branch out. 

Our prix fixe pick: The Worrell Rasta Pasta, with a spicy jerk cream sauce is available with chicken, shrimp and oxtail—definitely try the oxtail.

Our prix fixe pick: The 7 oz. bavette steak frites, served with bearnaise is the way to go, and we’d start with the seafood chowder.

This classic Harvard Square restaurant personifies a sophisticated approach to New England dining; locally-sourced seafood and meats, plus homemade pastas, are all meticulously and imaginatively prepared. 

Our prix fixe pick: Head straight for the rôti de porc de Dijon, a French preparation of pork roast you’re unlikely to find anywhere else in greater Boston.
