As the crisp, cold air of fall continues to creep into Boston, we are going to all start to look for some new cozy hang out spots. One place worth checking out this season is Bar Pallino on Newbury Street.

Located in the basement of Faccia a Faccia (formerly known as Faccia Brutta), Bar Pallino is a destination all on its own, but is also a great spot to hang out before heading to your table for dinner.

Conceptualized as a wine bar, the design is cozy and dark, just as any other decent wine bar, but in a modern way making it quite a refreshing place to be. Instead of the wine being hidden in a cellar somewhere, it is all on display in a wine-wall format, which is quite appealing. Whether you choose to sit at the bar or grab a table, the atmosphere is convivial and welcoming. And I have to say that there is a nice after-work crowd during the week.

Bar Pallino focuses on organic, natural and biodynamic wines. There are over 70 wines on the list including Clot de L'Origine Barriot Blanc de Noir, La Stoppa "Trebbiolo Rosso" and Valli Unite Brut & Beast Sparkling (Valli Unite). In addition to the extensive wine list, Bar Pallino offers varieties of amaros, vermouths and mezcals from artisanal spirit brands. So this is the type of place to bring your wine-enthusiast friends who may be looking to try something different. Bar Pallino is open Tuesday-Saturday 5pm-midnight.
