Want to wake up in the lap of Bostonian luxury, if even for a day? Luckily, one of the swankiest locations for a staycation is right in our very own Back Bay. Book an overnight escape to The Newbury Boston and enjoy all that this city hotel has to offer.
The Newbury Boston
Located in the Back Bay, The Newbury Boston began life in 1927 as one of the first Ritz Carlton hotels in America. Today the Newbury is one of the chicest hotels in Boston and is just the place for a winter staycation.
What is the Newbury’s the fireplace program?
The Newbury’s fireplace program comes complete with a curated hearthside, in-room dining menu and the services of a Fireplace Butler. We wrote about the launch of this program last winter. Guests staying in one of the 42 Fireplace Suites get access to not only a woodburning fireplace to enjoy, but also to the exclusive in-room dining menu that assists in cozying up to the max in this plush Brahmin setting. All Fireplace Suites feature a king bed, wood-burning fireplace, separate living room and bedrooms, marble bathroom with a walk-in rainfall shower and the complimentary services of a Fireplace Butler.
What else does the Newbury Boston offer?
The Newbury is also home to one of our favorite bars in Boston, the Street Bar. This is one of those hotel bars that locals actually frequent, so it also has an in-the-know feel and buzzing atmosphere. The classics like a dirty martini or Manhattan are stellar choices all year round but hit the spot especially well in the wintertime thanks to the dark wood and sumptuous fabrics linidng the space. This is one of those places that feels like it has always been here even though it is technically new!
Contessa
And of course, any visit to the Newbury has to include a meal at Contessa. This rooftop Italian restaurant at the Newbury is not only one of the hotspots in Boston but is also one of our newest fine dining options in the city. A member of the perennially popular Major Food Group, Contessa’s dining room was designed by Ken Fulk and is a photographer’s dream. But more importantly the food keeps getting better and better. Some highlights include the Squash Carpaccio, Ricotta Gnudi Di Pecora, Spicy Lobster Capellini, and the Classic Veal Milanese. Contessa tends to book up for dinner a few weeks in advance so plan ahead, so you aren’t disappointed.
