Cold plunges and oysters are both rumored to have healthy properties, and while we can’t confirm that, the two together sound like a great time.
If an freezing cold dip followed by a feast of bivalves sounds like your thing, we have the event for you this winter as Duxbury's Raw Bar at Island Creek Oyster Farm launches a partnership with the South Shore’s Saltwater Soul for a trip to a wood fired sauna followed by a cold plunge in a tub of Duxbury Bay sea water.
Elevate your mind and body (or at least test yourself to see if you can actually stand a cold plunge) with a series of three traditional Nordic cycles in the sauna and cold plunge tub filled with seawater, along with a rest period. You’ll also get a complimentary cocktail or mocktail to steady your nerves.
The Raw Bar at Island Creek will be open as well, for more drinks, Island Creek oysters, caviar service and snacks like clam dip and smoked bluefish pate.
Nordic cycles will be available the weekends of January 19 - 21st and February 16th - 18th, 2024. Guests are encouraged to bring sandals or slip-on shoes, a bathing suit, two towels, sweatshirt and dry clothes to change into or layers to manage temperature change. You must book in advance online.
Too intense for your warm blood? There’s more fun beyond just gorging on bivalves at Island Creek’s Duxbury location this winter. They will be offering free hatchery tours where you can see how the baby oysters are spawned, and a peek into the caviar packing room to see how their traceable process works. Just show up on a Friday, Saturday or Sunday at 2pm and 4pm starting on January 19th and sign up for the tour at the Raw Bar. It averages about 30 minutes, and you’ll be on your feet the entire time.
