Chef Evan Deluty is making a comeback. We were all sad to see his South End mainstay become a casualty of the pandemic, but he has a new opening on the way this Spring. Chef Deluty is opening Stella at 549 Commonwealth Avenue in Newton, which is just a few blocks from Newton Center.

“I’m excited to bring a taste of Stella along with new menu items to Newton. Since closing the South End location during the pandemic, I’ve been thinking about doing a smaller more intimate version. We are fortunate to have many loyal customers from over the years, it’s going to be awesome to reconnect and see many of them soon.” He said.

Stella will be open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner and will offer takeout and delivery. His launch menu will even include a few old favorites from the South End location, like: Arancini, Roasted Beet Salad, Margarita Pizza and Stella’s Meatballs. Some of the new items will be things like: Matzo Ball Soup, Potato Pancakes and a Chicken Parmesan Sandwich. The concept is more casual so it is the type of place you can pop into any time of day for a quick or leisurely meal.

A precise opening date has not yet been announced, but his team has said that it is on the horizon for this coming Spring. Just a few miles outside of Boston and accessible via the Green Line, this is sure to be a spot to check out whether you live in Newton or not!

If you are looking to check out some of other new openings in Boston in the meantime head to 1928 Beacon Hill or Waverly in Charlestown!
