With legalization in the rearview since 2016, the cannabis industry is growing in Massachusetts, with more and more local entrepreneurs building businesses around many Bay Staters favorite way to relax.
Not everyone is a smoker however, and beverage industry veterans, Mark Mahoney and Lee Brody, are entering the cannabis industry with the launch of The Drinkable Company, based in Danvers, MA.
The Drinkable Company’s products are drinkable cannabis “cocktails,” made right here in the Massachusetts. Infused with 5mg of full spectrum cannabis oil per 12 ounce can, the line includes Zenith Cold Brew Coffee, Tiger Tea, and Swivel Craft Soda. The drinks promise to provide an early onset of effects, at a controlled pace.
The Zenith Cold Brew Coffee is a fusion of locally roasted coffee, rich flavors and zero calories. Tiger Tea is made with freshly brewed, real green tea and is lightly sweetened. It comes in two flavors, wild berry and hibiscus. Finally the Swivel Craft Soda comes in four flavors, cola, diet cola, orange and root beer, and is naturally flavored, with less sugar than most craft sodas. All are infused with cannabis.
“As an innovator in the beverage space, the rise of the cannabis beverage market intrigued me enough to know I wanted to bring something to the table, but in a new and strategic way,” Mahoney, Principal and Founder, said in a release. “We saw seltzers launching rapidly, but not all consumers want a seltzer. To bring something different and fresh, we curated a variety of beverages that consumers can sip on during any occasion – whether it be for an energy boost, to refocus, or to chill, we have you covered!”
Mahoney, who witnessed how cannabis helped a personal friend during cancer treatment, began exploring the cannabis space first as an alternative to alcohol, and later as an opportunity in which his beverage expertise and network could be applied to help take the category forward, reports BevNet.
Zenith, Tiger Tea, and Swivel are now available in select retailers in both Massachusetts and Maine, and you can find out more about where to buy these locally created drinks on the Drinkable website.
