Lydia Shire, who is essentially, Boston’s “original grande dame” chef just announced that she is opening a new restaurant next year.
James Beard award-winning chef Lydia Shire will be opening a restaurant concept at the Seaport Science Center, a 492,000-square-foot life science property in Boston, MA. This will be Shire’s first restaurant opening since Scampo at the Liberty Hotel in 2008. This project is in partnership with BioMed Realty.
BioMed Realty is the developer of this project, and the design of the 13-floor Seaport Science Center will feature lots of lab and collaborative working spaces, but will also have some stunning design features like a six-story atrium and winter garden and all-season roof deck.
Not too many details about the restaurant concept have been released yet, but Shire’s restaurant will be on the ground floor of the building and guests will be able to access it both directly and via the lobby. So either external guests or office workers will be able to access. It is also in the plan that Chef Shire will collaborate with the building on events in the atrium and on the roof deck.
The Seaport Science Center is located at 601 Congress Street in Boston’s Seaport.
While the development won’t be open until next year, there are plenty of great restaurants that you can visit in the Seaport right now, check out our favorites in the meantime.
