Wondering how to get a free COVID-19 test in Boston? With the holiday season upon us, you may need a COVID test and you may need to get it done ASAP. Testing is certainly ramping up as the city begins to see the unsettling signs of a second wave.
Mayor Marty Walsh and the Boston Public Health Commission have created a mapping tool that shows all locations where COVID-19 testing is available. Testing is free for all Boston residents, regardless of insurance or immigration status.
“Every community deserves full access to COVID-19 testing. We will continue to work to expand access to testing for all residents across Boston, particularly our hardest hit communities,” Mayor Walsh said in a statement. “Access to neighborhood-based testing will help us quickly identify cases, and get people the care and support needed to recover and prevent the further spread of COVID-19.”
For the most up-to-date information about pop-up testing sites, visit the city's official website. Those who believe they need to be tested should call ahead to receive a pre-screening and to schedule an appointment.
