All summer long, Bistro du Midi is paying homage to the ultimate summer drink, rosé wine, with something called the “Tour de Rosé.” From June through September the restaurant has brought in rosé wines and created menu specials to celebrate the best rosé producers in the world. So if you love patio dining and perhaps a glass of rosé, this is definitely something you should have on your radar and if by any chance neither appeal to you take a look at our guide to the best things to do in Boston this summer.
Catch the last of the July installment this week before the menu swaps to the August offerings. This month Bistro du Midi has been celebrating American rosé wines.
Both wines are available by the glass, half glass and bottle. First up is Bedrock Wine Company's “Ode To Lulu.” This rosé applauds Lulu Peyraud, who was a French wine matriarch who lived to be over 100 years old. Her family ran Domaine Tempier, a wine estate in Provence known for its Bandol reds and rosés. The second wine on offer this month is Doris Rosé by Gail Wines. Winemaker Dan O'Brien named his winery after his mother Gail, and the Doris wines are named after his great-aunt Doris. Both are extremely drinkable and just the right thing to reward yourself after a long day of working from home!
Pair a few glasses of these rosés with Chef Robert Sisca's Ora King salmon rillettes and soft-shell crab specials for a delicious dog days of summer meal overlooking the Boston Public Garden.
Book a table on the beautiful Bistro du Midi patio this week before the menu swaps over for August. However, there are some great things in store for August too! The “Tour de Rosé” moves onto Italian varieties.
