Sometimes the best thing to do during a heatwave is to get out of the city. We all love a weekend by the Cape or on Nantucket, but we also don’t love the Cape traffic that accompanies those trips. Luckily, there is a hidden gem right by the water that is barely outside the city at all (in terms of distance) but feels a world away. Find out why you should head to Marina Bay.

Where is Marina Bay

Accessible by either car or boat, Marina Bay offers breathtaking views of the city, transient slips for visitors arriving by boat and a boardwalk full of restaurants. And at barely eight miles south of Boston in Quincy, this has to be the most convenient city escape we can think of!

Where to go in Marina Bay

The Chantey is the place to go for traditional New England comfort food. Enjoy things like fried clams, lobster rolls and other seasonal favorites. With live music inside at the bar on weekends throughout the summer, swing by for a drink and you will probably end up staying for dinner.

Then, next door on the boardwalk is Waterclub, a summer hotspot with two outdoor bars and a multilevel nightclub inside. The nightclub operates on weekends Memorial Day through Labor Day. And to keep guests comfortable, they have a cool misting system inside the club.

If you continue strolling down the boardwalk, ReelHouse is another restaurant worth a visit. Just like ReelHouse in Eastie, ReelHouse Marina Bay is known for their amazing raw bar and selection of seafood dishes. Lean into what summer in New England is all about at ReelHouse—seafood.

New to the neighborhood this year is Break Rock Brewing. This waterfront brewery has up to 16 products on tap in the taproom, and they aren’t all beers. The team always has some seltzers on tap as well, but the best part has to be that it is dog friendly! Break Rock always has something fun going on, here are the August event highlights:

Trivia: Every Wednesday at 7pm and 8pm (rounds start on the hour)

Yoga & Beer: Every Saturday morning in the taproom at 11am, co-hosted by our neighbors, Capella Yoga. Ticket includes a 45-minute all-levels class and a beer!

Barre & Brews: Sunday, 8/28 at 11am. Ticket includes a 45-minute all-levels Barre class and a beer!

Sip & Script: A night of learning calligraphy, the ticket includes 1.5 hours of instruction and a beginner's calligraphy kit.

Live music: Thursday through Sunday, every week in August (with the exception of Comedy Night)

BRB Comedy Night: Free Comedy night the last Thursday of every month. 8-9:30pm
