“Immersive experiences” are the hot ticket this year. In Boston we have had Van Gogh, Frida Kahlo and King Tut, but the next one may be even more exciting.
The Immersive Nutcracker, A Winter Miracle is coming to Boston this holiday season.
Produced in partnership with Storywall Entertainment, Immersive Nutcracker is coming to Lighthouse ArtSpace Boston in the South End this winter. Tickets went on sale August 26.
Immersive Nutcracker is made for the whole family and is sure to be a popular holiday activity this season. Like the other immersive activations, the experience is a 30-minute light show timed to music where guests sit or stand in a large space getting a 360-degree view.
The Nutcracker has a special place in Boston, as the Boston Ballet performs the ballet each year. But this new way of experiencing the classic story will offer another holiday experience for Bostonians.
“Like so many others, I have grown up with the tradition of enjoying the Nutcracker story,” says Producer Svetlana Dvoretsky. “This production does not replace any of those classics, but it provides a family-friendly experience that pays homage to the story’s ballet roots.”
The light show is set to the music of Peter Ilyich Tchaikovsky and features over 500,000 cubic feet of projections composed of over 1 million frames of video, curating the display of The Nutcracker from start to finish. All of the famous scenes, like “The March of the Toys” and “The Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy” are included.
Ballet dancers Denis Rodkin and Eleonora Sevenard perform amid the animations; with Elizabeth Pivovar and Alexander Marinosyan playing young Marie and her brother Fritz, bringing the story to life.
Tickets for The Immersive Nutcracker, A Winter Miracle start at $29.99 and are on sale now. There are also family packs, which offer 10% off per ticket when you buy a pack of four tickets or more.
