A new luxury boutique hotel is opening on Martha’s Vineyard this spring. Set to open this May, Faraway, MV is coming to Edgartown.
Second in a series of destination properties from Blue Flag Partners, Faraway MV will be just steps from the Edgartown harbor, with a design that reflects the “island's native botany.”
According to Brad Guidi, managing partner at Blue Flag Partners, “When we thought about locations for our second Faraway, Martha’s Vineyard, an island rich with history, seemed the perfect place to plant our feet. Our goal was to inspire discovery for immersive experiences and we knew the Edgartown campus had so much untapped potential. We spent months working on uncovering the property’s true soul, and were immediately drawn to the island's inseparable association with flowers as well as the free spirits that attend to them. We drew from the strong arts and music scene stemming from the 1970’s with the likes of James Taylor and Carly Simon along with the countless other talented musicians that graced the stages of the island and locally rooted artists that are still thriving here to this day.”
The property will be a completely reimagined space, with a new pool, spa and gym area at the center of the campus. There will even be an outdoor sushi restaurant and bar surrounded by greenery, flowers, and lanterns—creating a sparkling space each evening.
The overall interior design is a modern take on mid-century, featuring expertly paired patterns and textures that not only play happily with each other, but also beg guests to detach from the ordinary. Artists were commissioned to create custom pieces for the lobby walls and the entire property will be decorated with a curated art collection. This eclectic blend of styles is true to the Faraway brand and speaks to the ethereal muse of the hotel.
“We dreamt up a woman who grew up on the island in the 1960’s, tending to her gardens all the while learning the healing powers the plants possess. In the evening, she would entertain guests who were in awe of her enchanted singing, magical intuition, and artistic know-how. As the years carried on, murmurings of her music, floral sculptures, and curated nightly gatherings caught in the wind like a heavy fragrance. Our colorful hostess—a collector of people and pieces—provides a pleasure trove for cultivating, growing, and creating; a place, we call Faraway, Martha’s Vineyard.” says Guidi.
Close to the island’s best beaches, dining and shopping, Faraway, MV is sure to become a new hub on Martha’s Vineyard this summer. Exact opening date is currently TBD, but we will update when it is announced!
