Symphony Hall opened its doors in 1900 as the home of the Boston Symphony Orchestra and the Boston Pops Orchestra. Extended in 1990 to add the Cohen Wing, it continues to update its facilities with new audio reproduction technology. Still, it's the all-important acoustics of the original interior design that have made it one the country's top auditoriums. In July and August, the BSO is based at its summer home, Tanglewood, in the Berkshires of Western Massachusetts.
