Boston Family Days
Local families: Want to play tourist in your own city? Students who live in Boston and two guests per child can now get into some of Boston’s top museums for free on certain days. On the first and second Sunday of each month beginning January 5 and continuing until the end of 2026—that's nearly 50 Sundays—Boston Family Days open nine institutions to local students: Boston Children’s Museum, Institute of Contemporary Art, Museum of Fine Arts, Museum of Science, New England Aquarium, Franklin Park Zoo, Museum of African American History, John F. Kennedy Presidential Library and Museum and the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum. Mayor Michelle Wu and the City of Boston have automatically enrolled Boston Public School students in this program, but Boston families with students enrolled elsewhere must sign up with the city. Boston Family Days builds on a BPS Sundays initiative in 2024 that attracted 44,000 attendees across just seven Sundays. Five partners including Amazon and the Barr Foundation are making it possible for the Boston to expand the program. Before inviting the whole fam, check with your destination to see if you should pre-register—popular spots like the Children's Museum and Aquarium recommend it.
