If you’re staying the night in Tripoli the beautiful Beit el Nessim is certainly worth considering. Located on a winding street in the port area of El Mina, Beit el Nessim owner, Nabil Najjar, has lovingly restored this centuries old building in as traditional a method as he can. Bringing Syrian craftsmen and skilled Lebanese carpenters he’s built a beautiful palace of a hotel. Najjar and his wife will provide a superb breakfast of Lebanese treats (and whatever they have dreamt up overnight) to accompany a whole morning of lounging in the shaded courtyard. If you are feeling sporty, both proprietors teach yoga classes which you are welcome to drop in on or they will take you through a private class if you prefer.
Beit el Nessim (06 200983) Al Mina, Labban Street, Tripoli. www.beitelnessim.com/aboutus.html . 2 people in shared room $100 with breakfast.
