In a matter of years, Lina's has grown from its flagship branch in Paris into a global empire of crispy sandwiches and succulent quiches. Beirut alone has around a dozen venues, though the one in Zaitunay Bay edges the others with its attractive seaside location and slightly roomier venue. The formula is the same across the chain: salads, quiches and sandwiches are the order of the day (and indeed, they can be ordered for delivery). Portions are generous, and come with more ingredients than you can shake a baguette at. The recipes are mostly classic French fare – niçoise, croque monsieur – with a few concessions to the organic crowd – quinoa, halloumi. Come evening, the brioches are cleared and the rosé is popped as the place turns into a mellow wine bar.
