Tradition dictates that Tuesday, May 22 is the day to venerate the remains of Santa Rita at the Sant Agustí church in the Raval, which is filled with red roses in celebration of Rita's saint's day. Hundreds of parishioners bring blessed red roses to Santa Rita, the patron saint of street vendors of flowers and of impossible cases.
Outside of the church, you'll see stands with roses, stamps and candles. Once their roses are blessed, the faithful queue up to leave them along with the remains, which are kept in an urn alongside the altar. The tradition also calls for each person to keep a petal of a blessed rose to bring them luck and money the rest of the year.
