The sea isn't only for summertime, but for Christmas as well, with the debut of this market fair at Port Vell that's on from December 5 to January 5 in the Plaça del Portal de la Pau, handily located in front of the Columbus monument. The fair, which covers 5,000m2 of ground, coincides with the 150th anniversary of the Barcelona Port, so there's plenty to celebrate.
At the market stalls you'll find Christmas decorations, food, crafts and gifts, as well as a gastro zone and a stage with entertainment throughout opening hours. And since Christmas isn't complete without a giant tree, rest assured you'll find a 31-metre-tall tree all dressed up in lights. Also getting into the spirit is the headquarters of the Barcelona Port, which is lit up every night with a show that combines light and music. Plus there's a floating nativity scene in the water in front of the Rambla de Mar to admire. And kids can have fun on a classic merry-go-round.
