The Drap-Art market is back in Plaça Reial every Saturday throughout the summer, filling the city with culture, art and respect for the environment. For safety reasons, there won't be any workshops this season, but you will find art, craft and design stalls focussing on recycling and sustainability, and you can be comfortable knowing that all hygiene, safety and social distancing measures will be followed.
Art is so important to society, and that became even more clear during the months we spent in confinement, when so many people had a great need to express themselves. This is the premise Drap-Art has been working under since March, and out of which has come the 'Confined Artists' initiative, a creative space for sustainable art where we can decide what kind of planet we want. It started with an open call to raise ideas about what we consider essential to function as a society again and what we should let go of in order to achieve that goal.
You can see 14 projects of the 41 that have been received so far, such as 'Covid-19 business opportunity', by environmental artist HA Schult, and works by video artist Margarita Novikova.
