Barcelona's big city festival ('Festa Major') is here once more. From September 21 to 24, a new edition of La Mercè takes place. Friday 21 sees the official start of the festivities with the 'pregó' ('opening speech') at 6.30pm, which this year is given by the Barcelona-born actor Leticia Dolera in the traditional setting of the Ajuntament de Barcelona (City Hall). Dolera, in addition to being an actor, screenwriter and film director, recently published a book called 'Morder la Manzana' ('Bite the Apple'), in which she writes about her fight for feminism and women's rights.
You can watch the events going on inside the Ajuntament from Plaça de Sant Jaume, where there will be a big screen set up for the occasion.
