In 1999 a group of visual artists from different creative spaces in Poblenou rented out the old factory La Escocesa with the idea of making it their own. Since 2006 the old manufacturing site has been one of the top creativity factories in Barcelona, and every year it's been home to more than 30 international artists from various disciplines.
To celebrate its 20-year anniversary, La Escocesa opens its doors to the public on September 13, 14 and 15, when you'll be able to visit the artists' workspaces (Sat 12.30pm & 1.30pm, Sun noon and 1pm). The artists will also present their processes in a collective exhibition with nods to the history of the manufacturing space. You'll also find performances, screenings, concerts, mural activities, and penty of artistic presentations.
