This is the fifth year that this fair is being held and the event aims once more to promote the food and drink available in the neighbourhood of Santa Caterina, along with local businesses and Catalonia-produced wines. To mark the occasion, 10 bodegas have been invited along to serve a wide range of designation of origin (DO) Catalan wines and cava. The bodegas will present items that are new to these year's event along with top-of-the-line products, as well as exchange opinions and experiences with those who go to the tasting - it's a great opportunity to try out some of the best local wines and cavas. To go with the drinks, there will a wide range of tapas to try: 'pintxos' (tapas served on small slices of bread), cured meats, olives, sardines, 'empanadas' (filled savoury pastries), and cheese and ham prepared by neighbourhood restaurants and bars as well as some of the stalls in the Santa Caterina market. The gastronomic options in the area have improved a lot in recent times, and this fair will, for the duration, convert Santa Caterina into one of the key gastronomic points in the centre of Barcelona. Running parallel to the food and drink fair will be a Street Market, where local shops will set up stands on the street to promote their products. In addition, there will be other activities, such as performances by street artists and musical groups.
