The Fado Festival, which started in Madrid in 2011, comes to Barcelona for the first time on September 2 and 3. With the theme 'Fado and the Arts', the festival sets out to be a sample of the transversality of a genre that transcends the frontiers of music and encompasses other arts such as cinema, literature, art and photography.
The big draws are the concerts from two of the most important fado performers today: Carminho (Sat, 8.30pm) and Ana Moura (Sun, 8.30pm). In addition to these two shows, the festival features various various free activities on at the Maritime Museum so you can get to know Portuguese culture on a deeper level. You can also visit the exhibition 'O Fado na Arte Portuguesa', produced by the Fado Museum.
