The International Maria Canals Music Contest and the Jesús Serra Foundation are back to fill Passeig de Gràcia with pianos. Thanks to their 'El Passeig de Gràcia Porta Cua' initiative, in which the Friends of Passeig de Gràcia Association also collaborates, this emblematic Barcelona street sees ten grand pianos dotted along it for anyone who wants to step up to the bench and play. The day also marks the beginning of the 63rd edition of the Contest, which is on at the Palau de la Música Catalana from March 25 to April 7, and features 81 young pianists from 30 countries. As is now tradition, the Contest also takes to the streets via various grand pianos set up in public spaces around the city, available for you to play.
Among the ten grand pianos on Passeig de Gràcia there will be two concert grands: a Yamaha CFIE (in front of Casa Batlló) and a Bösendorfer Imperial (in the Jardinets de Gràcia). To top off the day, at 8pm, pianist Marco Heredia offers a free recital in the Jardinets de Gràcia.
