As indicated by the full title ('Dear Trump, I Fear My Right Wing Is Growing: A performative Tweet to the twit – the Trump mutations'), this is an open, live, living, breathing, singing, performative tweet to the President of the United States. The piece, through music and mutations, explores the insanity, capability and durability of the current state. Examining the duality of life. Is it an exorcism or is it a celebration? How will we get through all of this, really? How will we come out? Are we going to let it cripple us? Or ... will we dance? (If you feel incapacitated, do something, get on your feet and dance.)
Since 2002, writer/actor/performer and former Republican (by birth and circumstances) M.S. Garvey has been sending letters to the Office of The President of The United States. He sent over 250 to Bush. Several more to Obama. And now post cards to Trump. Tactile Tweets, he calls them. And, he performs them. In the last 18 years, Garvey has performed his letters to the president well over 200 times in bars, with Trap Door Theatre in Chicago, at theatre festivals, in art galleries, in the street, on his bicycle, and in front of the White House.
