In his work, Londoner Sebastien Waknine combines ingredients from two models separated by thousands of years: he employs touches of ancestral cultures, with references to totems, sacred masks and elements of esoteric imagery; yet his work is also linked with the pioneers of graffiti, abstract expressionism and outsider art. With all these iconographic tools to hand, Waknine creates his own Olympus of gods, heroes and demons, which lie between humanoids and zoomorphs, and which help him to tackle extreme ideas like apocalypse and redemption, life and death, and horror and tenderness. Tonight Waknine will be creating live, with ambient music provided by synthetic DJ Collage.
