In 1896, Alfred Jarry caused a riot with his savage portrait of a cruel, cowardly tyrant whose ambition knew no bounds. Declan Donellan, the renowned director of Cheek by Jowl, reinterprets a classic with a production of 'Ubu Roi' in which chaos, ambition and cruelty are set in the context of an elegant dinner, in a bourgeois French household.
