Mantequeria Lasierra is a grocer's owned by the Lasierra family for more than 60 years, providing high quality and customer service that nowadays isn't always easy to find in the big city. The shop has its origins in the late 20th century, when these types of establishments (called 'colmados', what we might refer to in English as 'corner shops' or 'general stores') were the one place you could go to get everything you needed. In 1917, the space was called La Nueva Maravilla and was already stocking select items. When he took over the trade in 1953, Ramón Lasierra (the father of the current owner) looked toward specialization. His background was in quality charcuterie, which Mantequeria Lasierra has cultivated. For example, you'll find cold cuts from Vallbona de Anoia or 'fuet' and 'salchichón' sausages from Puig-reig.
A marble countertop, and wooden shelves and drawers make up the personality of a shop that needs no decoration other than its wares. You'll find an abundance of ingredients to make a meal or picnic, or grab a delicious snack, from the Comtesse du Barry French tinned delicacies to pasta from Sanmartí, the oldest factory in Catalonia.
