Malamén, set up by a Venezuelan, a Spaniard from Navarro, and a Swedish chef with experience in haute cuisine, is a bar-restaurant that completely breaks ranks with the onslaught of pseudo-Basque pintxos that has overrun C/Blai. In Malamén, which looks like a cocktail bar with a kitchen in it, you'll find cusine that's made from seasonal products with both carnivores and vegetarians in mind. Start off with a salad of greens with seeds and cava vinaigrette; follow that up with guinea-fowl and black chanterelle cannelloni, and any other filling dish with Swedish or Latin touches, such as venison or popular Venezuelan dish, 'asado negro', something akin to roast beef. If you're looking for a more economical menu option, try the innovative tapas.
