A great place that's well worth a visit. Open 24 hours, Luzeria has become a key neighbourhood hang out in just two years. Filled with colour and natural light, it has a welcoming atmosphere and great service, but the most important aspect is the food. From dusk till dawn, the shop window displays homemade ice-creams and everything else on offer.
The main attraction is the empanadas in thirteen different varieties, which are far better quality than most thanks to the homemade pastry and combination of flavours. Slow-cooked onion, cheese and black olive tart and cottage cheese and spinach quiche are two other pastries worth mentioning. These delights are for passers-by looking for something to eat at odd times. The menu gets even better for those who want to sit down inside or on the terrace...
With Roxana in the kitchen and Marcela out front, Luzeria is all about doing things well. In addition to the empanadas, the hamburger in special bread and roast beef focaccia are culinary delights for the meat-eaters among us. Given that Roxana is Italian-Argentinian, she knows her stuff when it comes to meat and the burger, cooked to order, and the focaccia are both divine. While for fans of the chorizo hotdog, choripán, this place is an absolute must.
But even more worthwhile is the daily menu, which features salads, soups, meat and fish dishes that follow simple but sublime recipes. There is also an excellent selection for vegetarians. And the ice-creams and desserts made by Roxana and Marcela are simply out of this world.
