In Gràcia's Mercat de la Llibertat (Liberty Market) is an eatery called Joan Noi, where chef Paco makes all his big little dishes with fresh products from the fishmonger's next door. The display window serves as an appetiser, and at lunchtime it's virtually impossible to find a seat at the bar.
The red tuna with walnut sauce, cooked to a tantalising rare on sparkly clean grill is the downfall of any food fan who happens to be passing by. But the temptation doesn't stop there: fresh crayfish, prawns and other delights from the sea, depending on the daily catch, make this a lively place to quiet those hunger pangs when doing your shopping in the surrounding shops.
Another favourite creation of Paco's is the Andalusian-style fish eggs. And they also pour reasonbly priced glasses of good Penedès white wine.
