If you had to compare parihuela with a local dish, you could say it’s a kind of Peruvian zarzuela, though much richer in flavour and ingredients, as it includes a whole range of different types of fish and seafood. It's a great fish soup, very tasty and a little spicy, as it includes two or more varieties of chilli peppers. This typically Peruvian dish is served piping hot in decorated bowls with lots of chopped coriander, sliced lemon, puffed corn and yucca (manioc), all stewed together.
