Bodega Avenida (CLOSED)

The curtain of bottle tops in the doorway might give you a clue that this bodega is different from the rest. The Portuguese owner has given this old wine and grocery shop a makeover, and has filled it with all kinds of curiosities: like the star-shaped ice cubes, the buckets with their rows of ladybirds and the blackboard with Oscar Wilde quotes extolling beauty. Apart from the traditional cask wine, they also sell an excellent range of wines from Portugal. You can also try the cured sausages from Berguedà, the Cantabrian anchovies and on Saturdays they serve freshly-made cupcakes from Betlem!
