The Iglesias Group (Rías de Galicia, Cañota, Espai Kru) has opened a modern 'pulpería' (a restaurant that specialises in octopus dishes) with a mascot and everything. Bobo Pulpín is a family-friendly character along the lines of a Muppet, a pirate octopus who has escaped from the menu at Cañota to travel round the world (and who has been made into a theme in a space with giant figures, maps and invented souvenirs, in a TV series and on bottles of vermouth, tinned foods, and sweets – a whole world of merchandising built around our eight-legged friend).

Bobo's adventures bring interesting recipes to Barcelona, such as the Korean octopus dish with kimchi and cucumber, the Chinese version with sweet-and-sour sauce and bamboo, the Peruvian with bread baked with squid ink and 'anticuchera' sauce, the Mexican variety with ribs and mole sauce, and in impeccable Galician version, of course. There are also loads of home-made tapas, including an impressive Iberian ham croquette and a top-notch Galician 'empanada' (meat-stuffed pastry).
