You might already know about all the praise that's been heaped on Akinmusire by fans and critic, or that 'Downbeat' magazine honored him as best trumpeter of 2012. Steve Coleman took Akinmusire under his wing, and Jack Dejohnettte has called him the freest spirit at the trumpet after Miles Davis, and the Blue Note label is banking on him as the jazz artist of the 21st century.
