Although Estraperlo club is located in an industrial area of Badalona, it could just as well be in Brixton, circa 1978. They deserve a medal for their kamikaze spirit, but most of all for being punks. This is the only place around that regularly hosts international bands from back when punk was punk, without additives byproducts. After two years of thrashing, the man in charge, David Peret, admitted that they are 'fighters, fighting for a lost cause', but said that they do it because they love it. It's a point of pride that they manage everything themselves, organising incredible concerts, such as performances by the godfather of the genre, Jello Biafra, and the kings of Australian pub rock, Eddie & The Hot Rods. A good night at Estraperlo is 500 people (usually in their 30s and older) sweating and stage-jumping. They've even lowered the height of the stage, making leaping into the sticky crowd that much more liberating.
